This sounds

What a wonderful concert we had on Sunday, February 15th

This was a one-hour event that traced the history of the Klezmer tradition
through folk songs, lullabies and the music of a full shtetl wedding.
Explanations of the Yiddish lyrics combined with the sound and inflections of
the melodies offered an authentic exploration into this aspect of Jewish life.
The lecture/performance was led by our Music Director, Robin Seletsky and
assisted by The Temple Teen Choir, Ben Aldridge, Michael Bauer and Stan Fox.
Thanks to all of you for a program of learning and entertainment.
Thank you to the following Temple teen Choir members for an outstanding
performance:
Rachel Fox, Ben Kaiser, Leah Kaiser, Alex Fox, Zane Relethford, Henry Bauer
This was a fundraising event with the proceeds going to the piano fund.
Total donations collected, $ 1,000.00
Thank you to the following people who helped make the Klezmer concert a success.
Faye Munson
Hollie Jaffe

==========================
As many of you know, I took over the duties of coordinating the High Holiday Services from Ruth Steinman (now Ruth Hammer). I would like to thank Ruth for all her hard work in coordinating the readings prior to my assumption of her role.
We would like to start planning now for next year. I will be contacting those of you who read this year to see if you are interested in reading for next year. For those of you who did not read this year, please call me (607-267-4335) or e-mail me if you are interested in a reading next year.
We have plenty of
English readings, but we would especially like to solicit you (and your
children) to participate in Hebrew readings of the Torah, Haftorah, and the
blessings. I will be working with the Ritual Committee, Barbara Roberts, Brian
Kaiser, and the Religious School Committee to involve more of our students in
the services for next year.
If any of you are interested in being assigned an Aliyah for the High Holidays
next year (with or without a Torah reading), please let me of your interest for
that as well.
An expression of
interest will be a reservation for that reading or Aliyah next year; it will not
be a binding commitment, but will allow us to better plan for the readings, and
give you more time to prepare as well. All readings and Aliyot will be
confirmed next summer as we head into the High Holiday season.
Thank you.

New Prayer Book Fund Established
The Temple has established a Prayer Book Fund. Donations to this fund will be used to replenish our supply of prayer books. Our most pressing need right now is for more copies of Etz Hayim. The current cost is $58 each.
You may choose to make an anonymous donation or to have your donation in memory of or in honor of a loved one entered on a book plate inside the front cover.
Please call Judith at 432-0851 if you have any questions.
We have a number of funds for those who wish to make a donation to the temple, whether in honor of, or in memory of someone, or simply for tzedakah. They are:
Temple General Fund
Temple Building Fund
Temple Furnishing Fund
Torah Fund
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
Music Fund
Yad Sarah Fund
Piano Fund
If you have any questions about these funds, please contact Judith at 432-0851.
Learner's Service
On the third Saturday
of every month beginning in June, we will be working through the Shabbat
Service.
Learn the “hows and whys” of the Shabbat morning tradition. Join us at 10:00am
on Saturday, Nov 15th!
Sisterhood Donation Cards
The new position of
Photographer, Linda Blocker, has already produced great results.
We now have available special custom cards available: Mazel Tov, Sympathy and
Get Well.
They have a picture
from our Temple on the front cover and inside you can designate the recipient as
being honored by a donation to Temple Beth El's Sisterhood.
This fund will be used to purchase a special Temple gift; i.e. Podium. All
this for only a $5.00 donation!
Why not purchase a few of each to have on hand when you need them? So convenient!
They are available at the Gift Shop, all Sisterhood events and just be calling me @ 432-6278.
